Indigeneity, Property, and the Political Imagination in Neoliberal Chile
In the wake of the neoliberal era, indigenous peoples around the world have faced increasing pressure on their lands and resources. Chile is no exception. Since the implementation of neoliberal economic policies in the 1970s, the country has seen a dramatic increase in foreign investment and economic growth. However, this growth has come at a cost to indigenous communities, who have been disproportionately affected by land dispossession, environmental degradation, and social marginalization.
This book examines the complex relationship between indigeneity, property, and the political imagination in neoliberal Chile. It draws on extensive ethnographic research with Mapuche communities in southern Chile to explore how indigenous peoples have responded to the challenges of neoliberalism.
