He played a pivotal role in the passage of several landmark legislations, including the Punjab Tenancy Act (1920) and the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act (1939),which protected the interests of tenants and farmers.

Agricultural Development

Chhotu Ram was deeply committed to the development of agriculture in Punjab. He introduced modern farming techniques, promoted cooperative societies, and established agricultural banks. Under his leadership, Punjab became known as the "Granary of India." He is also credited with the construction of the Bhakra Dam, one of the largest dams in the world, which brought irrigation to millions of acres of land.

Social Reforms

Beyond his political and agricultural achievements, Chhotu Ram was also a passionate social reformer. He campaigned against untouchability, promoted education for girls, and worked to improve the living conditions of the rural poor. He founded numerous orphanages, schools, and hospitals, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to serving the marginalized.

Autobiography
