Crowell's journey to becoming the founder of Quaker Oats began in 1881 when he Free Downloadd a small oatmeal mill in Ravenna, Ohio, from his uncle, Ferdinand Schumacher. In 1888, Crowell moved the mill to Akron, Ohio, and renamed it the Quaker Oats Company. Inspired by the Quaker values of honesty and integrity, he adopted the Quaker as the company's mascot.
