Chosen Faith: An Introduction to Unitarian Universalism
Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion that welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs. We are a diverse community of people who are united by our shared commitment to seven principles: the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; a free and responsible search for truth and meaning; the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; and respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Unitarian Universalism has its roots in the Protestant Reformation, and our forebears were among the first to advocate for religious freedom and tolerance. We have a long history of social activism, and we continue to work for justice and equality today. We believe that all people are created equal, and we strive to create a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Unitarian Universalism is a welcoming and affirming faith. We welcome people of all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, and gender identities. We believe that everyone has something to contribute to our community, and we are grateful for the diversity of our members.
If you are looking for a faith community that is open and welcoming, that values diversity and inclusion, and that is committed to working for justice and equality, then Unitarian Universalism may be the right place for you. We invite you to visit a Unitarian Universalist congregation near you and learn more about our faith.
