Born in South Korea in 1983, the author was abandoned as a baby and adopted by an American family. She grew up believing that her name was Susannah and that her parents were her biological mother and father. However, at the age of 19, she discovered that her birth certificate was a fake and that her real name was not Susannah at all.
This shocking revelation sent the author on a quest to find out who she really was. She traveled to South Korea and met her birth mother, a young woman who had been forced to give her up for adoption. She also learned that she had a twin sister who had been adopted by another family. Through her journey, the author came to terms with her past and discovered the true meaning of family.
Not Even My Name is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant memoir that explores the themes of identity, family, and the power of truth. It is a must-read for anyone who has ever wondered about their own identity or who has been touched by the experience of adoption.
