King was a gifted student, and he excelled in school. He graduated from high school at the age of 15 and went on to attend Morehouse College in Atlanta. The Montgomery Bus Boycott

In 1955, Rosa Parks, a black woman, was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. King's leadership during the boycott made him a national figure, and he soon became one of the most recognizable faces of the civil rights movement.

The March on Washington

In 1963, King led the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This march was one of the largest civil rights demonstrations in American history. Over 200,000 people gathered in Washington, D.C., to demand an end to segregation and discrimination.

King delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington. This speech is one of the most iconic speeches in American history. In it, King expressed his hope for a future in which all people would be treated equally.

The Nobel Peace Prize

In 1964, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the civil rights movement. He was the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

King continued to lead the civil rights movement until his assassination in 1968. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray, a white man who was opposed to the civil rights movement.
